Pocket Pet services

Pocket Pets

Not all pets are furry or four legged! We are proud to provide care for exotic pets including birds, reptiles, and pocket pets. Caring for exotic pets requires experience and special training, so we have a team that is equipped to provide our exotic patients with high quality care.

Caring for exotic animals can be very different from other pets, so it’s important for pet owners to be educated on the needs of their pets. Nutrition and a proper habitat are major components of properly caring for most exotic pets.

Health Certificates

Health Certificates

If you want to travel internationally with your pet, you need to plan ahead. Since each country is different, you will have to contact the embassy or consulate where you are going to find out what you need to do.

Though every country has different requirements, most require a health certificate that is done by a USDA-accredited veterinarian. Luckily, we have a USDA-accredited veterinarian.

At the time of your pets’ examination, we will go over the forms that you need. There are times when we will have to run some tests to ensure that your pet is healthy enough for travel. We may also have to treat your pet prior to traveling.

You will always need a health certificate and proof of vaccination. You may also need a microchip and blood tests. Many countries require that your pet get treated for parasites prior to travel. You may also need certificates for the airplane ride.

Since each country is different and we can’t stay up to date will all of the changes in each one, it is important that you call ahead and know what you need. Then, we will make sure that your pet is all ready to go!

Hospice and Euthanasia

In Home Euthanasia

One of the most important services we provide as a mobile vet is in-home euthanasia. When the time comes to say farewell, there is no place a pet would rather be than in the familiar comfort of his or her home. In-home euthanasia helps to reduce the anxiety and stress that pets feel when taking trips to the vet.

Part of our euthanasia service is a full examination, which we use to help determine whether there are any other options before euthanasia has to be considered. Once we have determined that the time to bid farewell has come, we carefully inject a sedative which ensures that your pet will feel relaxed and have a pain-free experience.

Finally, we administer the second injection, which causes your pet to drift into a deep, peaceful sleep. Their vital functions will cease and they will be at rest.

Prior to our visit, you can discuss with us about what you would like to do with your pet after euthanasia. We are able to take your pet for cremation in a dignified and discreet manner if you don’t wish to handle burial yourself. We aim to be as accommodating as possible because we know how painful the passing of a loved one can be.

For more information about our services or to schedule a consultation, contact us today at (336) 816-9208.

Microchipping

Microchipping

Countryside Mobile Veterinary Services is happy to offer microchipping! Every year, thousands of pets go missing. Not knowing where your pet is or how to bring them back can be a helpless, hopeless feeling. It’s a tragedy that happens all too often.

But there is a simple, safe, and effective way to ensure your pet’s safety and retrieval should they ever become lost. Microchipping is a standard procedure that implants a tiny chip underneath your pets’ skin. It is a safe, relatively painless, and quick procedure.

You will need to register the microchip with your pet’s vital information as well as your name, phone number and address. When your pet’s microchip is scanned by any veterinarian or animal shelter, they will have the necessary information to return your pet directly to you.

Save yourself the heartache and stress of a lost pet. Microchips bring pets home.

Parasite Prevention

Parasite Prevention

The idea of your pet being infested with parasites is a disturbing thought, but it’s also a medical issue that can have serious consequences if not properly dealt with or prevented. Parasites pose a variety of health issues for our pets, who can be very susceptible to certain parasites depending on age, region, and other factors.

Through preventative measures, you can successfully protect your pet. Pets that are not protected often develop parasites, leading to serious problems for them and their owners.

Wellness Exams

Wellness Exams

Part of owning a pet is getting regular checkups and exams for your furry companion, which usually means a trip to the vet’s office. Often times, pets sense when they are on their way to the vet and will become stressed and agitated. Our goal at Countryside Mobile Veterinary Services is to provide you with those same general exams and checkups in the comfort of your home so your pet doesn’t have to stress.

During our general exams, we will examine your pet’s eyes, ears, nose, and mouth, listen for irregularities in breathing or heartbeat, check for any lumps or bumps under the skin, and observe motor functions for early signs of diseases like arthritis.

Most pets get the all-clear, and we’ll provide you with some helpful tips for maintaining your pet’s wellness. If needed, we can perform basic procedures, but in some cases, we will have to refer you to a veterinary hospital for more in-depth treatments.
